Not much to report

Not much to report today. We're stick waiting for our client to give us the media disk so that we can have content for the site. It isn't a huge issue, just inconvenient. Til we get the media, we will use place holder images. We still to make the actual designs for he site, but we know what will be needed, so that will not be hard to achieve. The owners wife knows basic html, so we won't need to do a php site. Which is fine by me, cuz I prefer html :)

Creative Brief

Christie and Angelica switched jobs. I will have a site map up soon. Otherwise, here's the creative brief.

Client: the client is the owner of the Italian restaurant

Location: 230 4th street north St. Petersburg Fl 33701

Contact Information:
Owner-Bill
Store phone-727 322 4313

Design team-
Project manager: Christie
Information Architect: Josh
Assets Manager: Angelica

Job reasonability’s:

Project manager- Christie will be responsible for communicating with both Phil and the Client. She is also responsible for all of the  “write ups”, such as the creative brief and double-checking the assets list. The project manager will also assist in the coding, planning out the design of the site, and mapping out the site diagram. Lastly the project manager will make sure jobs are passed out evenly/fairly and maintain a deadline schedule making sure everything gets done.

Information architect- Josh will be our coding mastermind! He will be collecting all the information and using the assets to put together this site. He will also be responsible for making the site across browser compatible, including a 404 page. He is also responsible for the site diagram and site navigation.

Assets Manager- Angelica is mainly responsible for the material that will be going into the website such as the text/ and menus, and most importantly the images. The main reason the current site isn’t attractive because of the uses of the images, thus making the assets manager very important.

Have a great night and I can't wait to see everyone's awesome costumes!!

Jobs assigned

Not much new on the home front, other than having a pretty sweet weekend dressing as the Joker and Jack Skellington. But that's neither here nor there.
What's important right now is that jobs have been assigned to the members of our group.
Being that she found our client, and lives in the same building as the restaurant, Angelica is taking point as the Project Manager. I will be the Information Architect (aka All-Star Coder), and Christie is Asset Manager.
Hope to have more for you all next time :)

One 404 page away from being done :D

I'm almost done, folks. Gotta say, after Angelica provided me with the new logo, the page really seems to have a sense of cohesion that was lacking previously. I made the links into a thinner font-face so that it wouldn't distract from the logo on top. Also, figured out how to add a copyright symbol into the footer (which was harder than one would think...).
Anyhoo, All I have to do now is talk with Angelica and decide one what she wants for a 404 page.
Til next time, folks!

Almost There!

I did listen to the critique that you all gave, and very much agree in retrospect. So, I changed the weight on the font in the css and made the leading smaller. I hope that this will help with the visual hierarchy and make it less distracting from the work.
Oh, and to clear up a point of confusion that Christie pointed out in her comment. The yellow is NOT a hover. It is a constant yellow on the page name you are on. I did not want to clutter the simplistic layout by putting large labels over each section. That was my solution to the problem. I took a screen-cap with the hover present. The mouse hover is pink. This was how I incorporated splashes of color, per Angelica's request :)

PS: All the pages are linked. :D All I have to do is make some of the titles that appear when you place your mouse over an image better (I like to nitpick) and I need to make a GOOD home page... Since I've designed all of the other pages OTHER than that one >_<! But, I'm going to focus on the fact that the structure of the site is now set and be happy :)

Minor updates

As before, when you hover over a link, the white text changes to pink. So, I guess the biggest update to the functionality of the site was trying to figure out how to indicate to the viewer what page he/she is on. I didn't want to clutter things up with titles and stuff, given the format I've chosen for the portfolio site. So, my solution was to play with Angelica's notion of throwing splashes of color onto the site. My solution was to highlight the page name that you are on in yellow. The example I'm using best exemplifies that, given the page's multi-layeredness.

Excelsior!
